Then take a few tips from Mike and Audrey and their amazing Arboretum of Flagstaff Wedding.
This amazing couples held their wedding with family and friends is Flagstaff Arizona at the Arboretum. They had the talented teams from Holleday Productions, Saaty Photography, and of course Brandon from 7000 Feet of Sound. All photos in this blog are from the amazingly talented Monica Saaty. Mike and Audrey's color choices coupled with the fall foliage and colors of Flagstaff in September made for an amazingly beautiful wedding.
One thing about the Arboretum is their dais and the walk up. You can't get a better setting and view as you and your wedding party enter the ceremony.
Mike entered on his own like the boss he is followed by the bridal party to the song Cecilia and the Wilderness by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. While Audrey was escorted down the aisle by her mother to Some Wild also by Andrew McMahon in the wilderness. From the start of this wedding the couple added touches of their music choices to the wedding. This is something we recommend to all of our couples. Your ceremony is the perfect place to put touches of you two into your wedding. IT'S YOUR FLAGSTAFF WEDDING, make it yours!
Once we hit the vows there wasn't a dry eye to be found (the couple included) and they exited to the song 26 by Caamp while their guest blew bubbles and they had the amazing mountain views in the background.
Cocktail hour, that time most couples throw away because they aren't there. But, let me reframe this time for you. Cocktail hour is the pre-game to your reception. This is the time guests are getting drinks, talking, getting excited and enjoying the sounds and scenes. Using a generic instrumental playlist.....so the 1900's. This couple used their taste in folky, acoustic, indy, chill rock to give us the perfect starting point for a cocktail hour that not only vibed with the space and amazing views but warmed their guests up for the main event to come later.
As a couple planning your big day, don't overlook cocktail hour. It's an amazing time to show off your musical tastes and to warm your guests up for what's to come when the dancing starts. As well enhance cocktail hour with a signature cocktail or mocktail that your guests can enjoy.
Yard games for guests to enjoy as the couple took photos during cocktail hour.
what's a cocktail hour without drinks and signature drinks are a great way to get things started and show your guests more about you two.
Our Photobooth captures the memories your photographer isn't around to grab!'t a
Start with the grand entrance, end it with the first dance.
Your reception officially starts with your grand entrance. For our couples we highly recommend you go from your Grand entrance straight into your first dance. You're already on the dance floor, everyone's looking at you. Get it done and get it over with. Take Audrey and Mike for example, they brought their wedding party in by groups (bridesmaids then groomsmen) then came in themselves to a thunderous applause from their guests right into an amazing sunsetish first dance. It was a perfect resolve to the high energy of the grand entrance and a perfect segue into dinner.
For this couple they brought in the team from Fat Olives to cook fresh wood fired pizza at the reception. Though it doesn't sound like the typical wedding menu, this is always a hit. Your guests getting a chance to see their food cooked fresh is always a wonderful experience and when you think about it, your wedding is a series of memories and any way you can add to those memories helps you and your guests remember your big day.
What more can we say. As DJ's this was the wedding crowd we dream of. Folks from all over the country who were here to celebrate and party.
From Simply the Best by Noah Reid to Take My Home Country Roads for the bride's family to the Cotton Eye Joe and Steal the Show by Lauv, these two didn't disappoint on the dance floor. They provided us with a selection of their favorites but gave us the ability to move with the guests. It was exactly what you want a dance floor to be, an absolutely party! For me as a DJ, if I could go back and do it again I absolutely would.
The photo on the right says it all. Two thumbs up! Closing out the night with Clearest Blue by Chvrches this couple's wedding was a night to remember.
